The next few weeks, you'll find me at The Carlyle Hotel Bemelmans Bar, where I play and sing a jazzy poppy holiday brunch for families, called Tea With Madeline.  It is so named because Ludwig Bemelmans, author and artist, painted the walls there.  Make reservations at (212) 744-1600.  We have two shows every Saturday through December 26, and we will sell out!  Here is one of my favorite shots, from a couple years back!

Tina deVaron Celebrates the Re-Release of Tuckerman’s Ravine at Pangea on 11/9Folk-Pop Album Explores Creativity, Family and a Woman’s Place in the World

New York – September 14 - Tina deVaron, a deeply rooted New York musician, singer and hit songwriter, will appear at Pangea on November 9th at 7:30pm to celebrate the independent re-release of her CD, Tuckerman’s Ravine. On this original melodic and contemplative folk-influenced recording, deVaron reflects on family, creativity and a woman's place in the world. Her son, Billboard Top 100 songwriter and producer Nick Lerangis produced Tuckerman’s Ravine. The CD will be available November 6th on CD Baby and all major online retailers. There is a bonus track available on the digital download only. Pangea is located in the East Village at 178 2nd Avenue between 12 and 13th Streets in the East Village. The chic music listening room (in the rear of the restaurant) serves dinner and has a full bar. To make a reservation, call: (212) 995-0900. There is a $20 cover in advance and a $25 cover at the door. Purchase tickets here.

The multi-talented deVaron has a wide-ranging career. She is a two-time Billboard-charting songwriter for the songs Adore You – which was recorded by the Grammy-nominated group, Anointed, and reached #1 on the Gospel chart – and If I Close My Eyes, which rose to #2 on the dance radio chart. Her musical, Perfect Mothers, was chosen as one of broadway.com’s Top Ten NYMF Shows to see in the 2013 New York Musicals Festival’s Reading Series and was a Next Link NYMF finalist in 2014.  The reading featured Tony® winner Adriane Lenox and Tony® nominees Nancy Opel and Jenn Colella, along with other Broadway veterans Kenita Miller (The Color Purple) and Amy Bodnar (Ragtime). Last winter, deVaron presented an evening of her original music at Metropolitan Room, and once again was joined by a group of Broadway stars, including Liz Larsen and Sal Viviano. She is currently a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop. Tuckerman’s Ravine is her 4th studio album.

deVaron plays jazz piano at New York’s most swank rooms, and will begin her 11th season in November at Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle, hosting Madeline’s Tea.  She began her career as an undergraduate at Princeton University, and after moving to New York secured a long-running engagement as pianist at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel performing on Cole Porter’s piano.  She lives in Manhattan with her husband, New York Times bestselling author Peter Lerangis, where they raised their two sons, Nick and Joe.

Tuckerman’s Ravine will be available on Nov. 6th on all major digital retailers, and there is a new dance track included in the re-release by digital download only.

Perfect Mothers, Tina deVaron’s musical in development, was named one of NYMF 2013’s Ten Shows to See by Broadway.com.  Her songs have climbed the Billboard charts; CBS TV’s Family Matters dubbed her The First Mother of Songwriting; columnist Lisa Belkin called Tina’s CD Water Over Stones “The soundtrack of my life!” and best-selling author Anne LaMott called her songs “brilliant, funny, and wise.”

Audiences coast-to-coast have flocked to the Carlyle and Langham Place where she has developed and performed two events that have become New York holiday institutions, Madeline’s Tea at Bemelmans Bar, and Tunes with Tina, a sold-out family jazz brunch.

Now six of Broadway’s brightest stars gather to present a full evening of her original music — a song cycle about grownup love and everything that comes (and goes) with it.

Jenn Colella, currently co-starring in If Then, also starred as Hedda Hopper in Chaplin; Liz Larsen, currently co-starring in Beautiful, was nominated for a Tony in Most Happy Fella;  Adriane Lenox is a Tony winner for Doubt and a Tony nominee for After Midnight; Kenita Miller is a Drama Desk Award winner for Working and a Drama Desk nominee for Langston; Nancy Opel is currently co-starring in Honeymoon in Vegas, and was nominated for a Tony for Urinetown; and Sal Viviano, a Broadway World Award winner for Best Actor in Closer Than Ever, has performed in over 300 Pops concerts and on over 70 recordings.  Charles duChateau, whose conducting credits include Spider Man and South Pacific, has created spare and surprising arrangements for these songs.  Annbritt duChateau has conducted dozens of Broadway shows and is currently assistant conductor of Aladdin.

Tina deVaron is a brilliant, award-winning composer/lyricist making her Metropolitan Room debut.  This Broadway A-list brings Tina’s soulful, heartbreaking, funky, and downright hilarious music to life.
